Birthday Surpise!

The UPS truck delivered a special box from my son and soon to be daughter-in-law. When I opened it I found it was full of birthday presents. They had sent me lots of ginger bread decorations! What fun! Anyone who knows me can tell you that next to celebrating the birth of our Lord, my favorite thing at Christmas is my gingerbread decorations. I love gingerbread, I mean I really, really LOVE gingerbread anything. I even have a Christmas tree that is nothing but gingerbread goodies. I have a ginger bread village that I set up. In fact, last year for my birthday they got me a gingerbread castle with fiber optic lights. It is beautiful. I can't wait for Christmas so I can set everything up. Be honest, when you look at a ginger bread village doesn't it make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Puts a smile on your face doesn't it. Ahhh. Is it Christmas yet????

Birthday Fun!

Well, the Lord blessed me with another birthday, yahoo!. My daughter Melissa invited the family over for dinner and of course, cake and ice cream. Yum. I had a wonderful day. Melissa took me to our traditional lunch at Olive Garden, then we shopped and shopped. She bought me a cute purse. My son, Bob, gave me gift certificate to Belks and my granddaughter, Jessica, gave me a gift certificate to Wal-mart. They know the way to my heart is shopping! Ha! My husband wasn't able to be with us as he was at the beach with our church group. He gave me an under-the-counter cd/radio so I can dance around my little red kitchen while I cook. I missed my first birthday without my son, Billy. He has moved to Tennessee. I am so excited that it is just 5 weeks until his wedding and I will get to see him again. I think I will kiss all over his face. He is going to marry a wonderful girl, a girl just like good old mom. (She keeps him focused) Seriously, she is really going to be a great addition to our family. She has a great family that loves him as much as we do, so I know he is happy. That's what is important to every mom. Thank you Lord for blessing me with such wonderful children.

My Little Red Kitchen

Well, I am going to try my hand at blogging with the help of my daughter, Melissa. My first post is going to be about my "little red kitchen". They say a woman's kitchen tells about her personality. I have always had an "apple kitchen" . When we moved into our present home, I decided to add a little spice to my kitchen. I chose the color red as it went with my apples as well as it makes my kitchen bright and cheery. My husband and family thought I went a little overboard, with red toaster, red pots and pans, red can opener, red mixer, red knives, red tea pot, etc. etc. For mother's day, Melissa took me to lunch, a movie, and shopping. I had no idea that she was keeping me away for a reason. When we arrived home I found a wonderful Mother's day surprise waiting for me. A RED kitchen sink! While we were gone, my son and friends installed a cute red sink to finish my little red kitchen. I was soooo happy. I bet I am the ONLY mother in the whole wide world that received a red sink for Mother's Day. When I look at my little red kitchen, I know how truly blessed I am. It makes me feel warm and loved. I can't thank the Lord enough for giving me such wonderful children. My personality is not reflected in my little red kitchen, but it's my children's love that is reflected there. "God Bless My Little Red Kitchen !"
